RECRUITING GROUP LEADERS FOR JANUARY 2027
A REWARDING CAREER
BUILDING FUTURES
At Robinwood, being a Group Leader is about much more than running adventure activities. It’s about mentoring young people, building their confidence, and helping them grow during their formative Key Stage 2 years at primary school.
Through our three-day residential courses, you’ll use adventurous, themed activities to give children experiences and skills that last long after they head home. If you’re after a role with real purpose, solid team support, and clear room to progress, this is where it starts.
WHAT MAKES GROUP LEADING HERE UNIQUE?
We do things a bit differently at Robinwood, giving you a far more rewarding experience than a standard instructor role.
THE SAME GROUP LEADER
You stay with the same group of children for their entire three-day stay. Rather than dipping in for a single session, you actually get to build trust, watch their confidence grow, and see the impact of your work firsthand.
ONGOING RELATIONSHIPS
You work closely with the visiting school staff for your group. The genuine rapport you build with teachers is why so many schools feel like part of the Robinwood family and come back year after year.
A CLEAR PATH TO PROGRESS
We hire for who you are, not what you know. Our values-based approach means we look for potential and mindset over experience and qualifications, we’ll teach you the rest through great training.
And when it comes to growing your career, we mean it. With our promotion-from-within policy, every single Senior Course Leader, Assistant Manager and Centre Manager started out as a Group Leader. It’s a brilliant launching pad into management and leadership.
SPECIALISING FROM THE START
As well as specialising in all the activities we run, you are appointed to a specialist additional area before you even start. Knowing your role inside out has huge wellbeing benefits for our staff.
CONCISE TRAINING
You only train in the areas that you will be working in. With so many exciting parts of the role to learn, ensuring the training you receive is relevant is a top priority. On your non-group leading day each week you will complete your specialised trained and assessed support shift.
CUSTOMER FOCUSSED
Having our staff hired and trained as specialists at either evening or catering support roles ensures that our customers are getting high-quality, customer-focused experts in all aspects of their visit.
HOW YOUR WEEK FITS TOGETHER
No one works in isolation here. Our working week is designed around teamwork and looking out for each other.
For part of your week, you’re front and centre leading your group through every challenge, building their self-belief, and keeping energy high. While you focus on your group, your teammates are working behind the scenes to keep the rest of the course running smoothly.
For the rest of your scheduled hours, you switch roles. You’ll cover your specialist area to give the other Group Leaders the exact same support you received.
WHO THRIVES HERE?
You don’t need a CV packed with outdoor certificates. We’re looking for grounded, proactive people who bring:
- Enthusiasm to Learn: A genuine desire to pick up new skills and develop as a leader.
- People Skills: The ability to connect naturally with kids, teachers, and your teammates.
- Resilience & Positivity: The energy to bring your best self to dynamic, active days.
- A Team Mindset: A willingness to muck in, support your colleagues, and make a positive difference in children's lives.
Experience working or volunteering with groups of children is essential.
