Maes-y-Nant, Cross Lanes, Wrexham

Set in the beautiful Welsh countryside just outside of Wrexham, the original building dates back to the late Victorian era when it was built as a private house in around 1870.

Its name Maes-y-Nant when translated means ‘house by a stream’. Although the stream remains, the old owners would struggle to recognise it now as the site has been transformed with purpose-built facilities to provide an amazing Robinwood experience.

As our newest centre, every element of the operation benefits from our experiences over years of operation and feedback across all Robinwood centres.

An established management team are at the helm of Maes-y-Nant.  If you have been to Dobroyd or Barhaugh Hall you will probably recognize some familiar faces. With over 40 years of experience between them at Robinwood Centres, you are in safe hands with Ash, Kel and Storm.

The only Robinwood centre with coach access to the front door and all activities are on-site and close together – making the most of every exciting minute.

Another first for Robinwood – Maes-y-Nant boasts a purpose-built high ropes course. Raft Building and Canoeing takes place on our purpose-built lake, shallow enough to be perfect for key stage 2 and big enough for a real feel of adventure. In the grounds, you’ll find a Giant Swing and a Zip Wire of around 80 metres in length. Purpose-built brand new buildings house Archery and our specially designed indoor Caving system, allowing these activities to take place year-round.

Maes-y-Nant offers Robinwood’s Ultimate timetable, providing all the classic Robinwood sessions, including the legendary Piranha Pool, Dungeon and Quest themed problem-solving sessions. Dormitories and teachers accommodation are all housed in the main building. Within our accommodation, children sleep in dormitories with between 2-12 children, with en-suite toilets and washbasins.

Room for up to 170 adventurers at a time. The children get to share a dormitory with their friends, whilst teachers rooms, all of which are en-suite, are located close to the children. We have a fantastic teachers lounge area where teachers can relax in the evenings, whilst Robinwood staff oversee bedtimes and overnight supervision of the children
