3 Days, 2 Nights, 15 Activties

Available at: BHDCMN

Three full days away from home is generally enough for most 7 to 11 year olds. Since our first course in 1994 we have consulted closely with thousands of teachers and the feedback we have received tells us that a busy three day programme works best. Children have really busy days at Robinwood with activities starting at 9.00am and finishing at 9.00pm. In a 3 day course we typically pack in 15 different activity sessions, which is more than many providers manage to include in a 5 day course.

Keeping the sessions relatively short not only allows us to fit more in but also helps to ensure that children are more focussed and engaged throughout each session than they would typically be if we spent the whole morning on one activity and the whole afternoon on another.

The right balance of activities

We are conscious of the importance of providing the right balance within the activity programme including a range of adventure activities, themed problem solving sessions, watersports sessions, activities that will challenge, activities that will develop teamwork, activities that will stimulate the imagination and activities that present fantastic learning opportunities in a way that goes beyond what can be offered in a classroom environment.

Typical 3 day programme

Around 24 hours of high quality activity sessions packed into a 3 day course. Please note that this activity programme does vary dependent in particular on weather conditions and the timetable given above is only a sample. What Schools say about our 3 Day Residential

We really appreciate all the recommendations we get from schools who have visited Robinwood and the number of schools who come for the first time as a result of recommendations from friends and colleagues. We are constantly updating the comments from schools who have recently attended a Robinwood Course. The schools that attend come from areas of the Midlands, throughout the North of England and up into Scotland. But don’t just take our word for it, See what they have to say about Robinwood. "Thankyou to all at Robinwood for giving our children the trip of a lifetime. I feel that a real plus of Robinwood is the way that you treat teachers as professionals and experts on their children. From the moment we arrived we were given opportunity to discuss our children and offer advice, we were treated to wonderful accommodations and also given delicious food for dinner. We were able to thoroughly enjoy the whole experience with our children and show them a much more relaxed side of ourselves because of the incredible organisation of the centre, all of the staff we encountered (lunchtime staff, night time staff, people we just met wandering the corridors or in the grounds). Robinwood has always struck me as one of the most friendly places on earth with every person you encounter offering a helping hand or imparting some wonderful knowledge. Thankyou to all involved at the castle, especially our Group Leaders for giving every single one of our children the opportunity to thrive, face fears and most importantly come back home with huge smiles and developed confidences. Whilst Robinwood is one of the more expensive residential trips, I genuinely think it is well worth the money for all of the activities, the food, accommodation and especially the round the clock care from staff. Robinwood centre, staff and activities were brilliantly inclusive. We were able to visit prior to our trip to check arrangements, speak with members of staff and head office to arrange alternatives and how sessions might differ. Prior to our arrival, we were able to arrange alternative travel to the centre. We were massively impressed with the disabled facitilies including accessible rooms and bathrooms. When we arrived at the centre, we were met and informed of all the different arrangements that had been put in place and provided with a detailed account of what could be completed. Most of all, we were most impressed with the way all Robinwood staff interacted with our pupil in a way that allowed him to feel entirely part of the group and that showed respect for his dignity too. In our opinion, Robinwood went over and above to ensure that everything was inclusive. Overnight Supervision - This is something we found Robinwood to be incredible at. The night staff on duty both nights in the castle were incredible with their behaviour management but also with their ability to soothe and calm children who were feeling homesick. Thankyou to these wonderful professionals. Really impressed with the special diet food boards in all dining areas, impressed with on-site staff knowledge of food requirements and also of the way in a phone call prior to visit we were warned of a guest with a nut allergy. Incredible organisation. We spoke to several members of catering staff throughout our visit and were overwhelmed with their kindness, incredible skill and warm nature. I think they really are some of the unsung heroes of Robinwood as the food was delicious every night and we felt like we were eating out at a fancy restaurant. Activities: Caving - We loved the video of the real cave exploration and getting to compare what a real life cave would be like with Robinwood caves. Our Group Leaders personal experiences here were really exciting for the children and they are still talking about them now. Dungeon - Through a range of story telling and trickery this activity was made really exciting for our groups. Piranha Pool - We have been coming to Robinwood for over 17 years now and the myth of the piranha pool spreads throughout the school before every visit. This year, it certainly didn't let anyone down with all of our children emerging with it being their standout favourite activity. Team Challenge - I think it is wonderful that the Robinwood leaders get the teachers involved in these activities. It is great as a class teacher, to be able to enjoy the activities and games with the children (and a little bit of friendly rivalry) whilst knowing that someone else is in charge of coming up with the next exciting activity and especially when behaviour is managed so effectively. Zip Wire - A huge thankyou to the Robinwood staff members who stepped up to help a young man in our group with reduced mobility. We thoroughly enjoyed seeing his smiling face as they talked him through what they were going to do and joked with him the entire way through. Brilliant organisation for an absolutely wonderful activity."
