9. Challenge Course

Outdoor Activity

Available at: BHDCMNOS

Robinwood challenge courses typically run through wooded areas of the grounds and incorporate many different challenges for the group. We have tunnels to crawl through, walls and scramble netting to climb on, rope bridges to cross and various other obstacles for the group to overcome. The course blends into the woodland environment, making use of the natural resources available. In order to make their way round, the group need to work together as a team to overcome the obstacles they face. At The Old School we have a fantastic natural obstacle course. On a boulder field close to the activity centre children can scramble over the top and explore the many passageways beneath, squeezing through tight gaps on the way. There are many different routes to take providing a range of challenges for those taking part. At our Maes-y-Nant activity centre the challenge course is a high wires circuit designed to test both the individual and the team.

Other Activities at Robinwood

We have 15 high quality activity sessions. Although most are offered at all Robinwood centres, there are some which only operate at selected centres. All centres run a very similar, busy programme with typically 15 activities packed in to the three days at Robinwood. There are slight variations in activities offered at each centre and the activity programme also varies according to the time of year.

What Schools say about our activities

We really appreciate all the recommendations we get from schools who have visited Robinwood and the number of schools who come for the first time as a result of recommendations from friends and colleagues. We are constantly updating the comments from schools who have recently attended a Robinwood Course. The schools that attend come from areas of the Midlands, throughout the North of England and up into Scotland. But don’t just take our word for it, See what they have to say about robinwood. This was our first activity and it really got the children excited and it challenged them. Caving - This was something different and really explored the concept of teamwork. Climbing - We did this activity twice and the second time the children really challenged themselves. Crate Challenge - The children really enjoyed this activity as it focused on working together as a team. Dungeon - The mathematical aspects of this challenge was brilliant. The problem solving approach really promoted teamwork. Night Line - Our children really found this activity interesting as they had to listen to the instructions. It was very entertaining. Piranha Pool - This was the best activity. The children were already hyped for the activity and really believed that there were piranha's. They were all soaking wet but they had a brilliant time. Team Challenge - Children enjoyed working as a team. Trapeze - All of our children challenged themselves to try and get to the top. Many of them managed to jump off and catch the trapeze."
