Outdoor Activity

Available at: BHCLDCOS

Robinwood challenge courses typically run through wooded areas of the grounds and incorporate many different challenges for the group. We have tunnels to crawl through, walls and scramble netting to climb on, rope bridges to cross and various other obstacles for the group to overcome. The course blends into the woodland environment, making use of the natural resources available. In order to make their way round, the group need to work together as a team to overcome the obstacles they face. At The Old School we have a fantastic natural obstacle course. On a boulder field close to the activity centre children can scramble over the top and explore the many passageways beneath, squeezing through tight gaps on the way. There are many different routes to take providing a range of challenges for those taking part. At our Cross Lanes activity centre the challenge course is a high wires circuit designed to test both the individual and the team.

Other Activities at Robinwood

We have 15 high quality activity sessions. Although most are offered at all Robinwood centres, there are some which only operate at selected centres. All centres run a very similar, busy programme with typically 15 activities packed in to the three days at Robinwood. There are slight variations in activities offered at each centre and the activity programme also varies according to the time of year.

What Schools say about our activities

We really appreciate all the recommendations we get from schools who have visited Robinwood and the number of schools who come for the first time as a result of recommendations from friends and colleagues. We are constantly updating the comments from schools who have recently attended a Robinwood Course. The schools that attend come from areas of the Midlands, throughout the North of England and up into Scotland. But don’t just take our word for it, See what they have to say about robinwood. "Just to say a big thank you to all the staff at Robinwood - The annual trips are a real highlight of the year for both the staff and the pupils and we can't wait to come back next year! The centre was presented impeccably and definitely feels like a 'home from home'. Overnight Supervision - The staff skillfully dealt with any issues with the children, at the same time as keeping our staff well informed. Activities: Archery - One of the children's highlights! Canoeing - It was great that all the children could be involved at the same time. Caving - Children overcame their fears and were so proud of themselves for navigating through the darkness of the caves. Challenge Course - They loved this - children were involved all the time and really worked as a team. Crate Challenge - Varied roles within the challenge allowed children to be actively involved all the time. Dungeon - Both this and the Knights' Quest were one of the teachers' highlights. Great to see the children having to engage in real life problem solving. Nightline - Great for team work and communication skills. Another activity that works so well because everyone can be actively involved at once. Piranha Pool - As usual - the infamous piranha pool did not disappoint. A highlight of the week for everyone! Team Challenge - Fantastic evening for staff and pupils alike - the children loved seeing their teachers get involved and a great bonding experience for everyone. Trapeze - Great encouragement on this activity by the course leaders meant that all the children had a go on this activity."
