At our Robinwood centres, we believe that we offer the best residential activity courses available for the 8 to 11 year old age group. We get a re-booking rate in excess of 90% and due to the demand for Robinwood courses we have now extended our operating season to run from mid January to mid December each year.
Party leaders tell us many different reasons why they return to Robinwood year after year. Six of the key reasons why Robinwood is their first choice, are as follows...
At Robinwood we have staff timetabled to supervise your group throughout their stay from the moment they get off the coach at the start of the course to the moment they get back on at the end. As well as instructing all activity sessions, we have staff timetabled to supervise break times, mealtimes, bedtimes and wake-up times. All of our instructor team staff take it in turns to do 'night duty', ensuring supervision from male and female staff who remain awake throughout the night.
Overall the number of instructor team staff working at a Robinwood centre is in excess of one third the capacity of the centre (for example our Todmorden centre accommodates up to 84 children and operates with more than 30 instructor team staff). Taking all activity centre support staff into account, the total number of staff is around half the number of children that the centre can accommodate. We don't believe anyone else offers this level of care and supervision.
Courses at our activity centres are designed especially for Key Stage 2. They are ideal for years 4, 5 and 6.
Robinwood activity environments are as safe as they can be; just right for the age group involved. Watersports take place on shallow, sheltered water, with children always within 10 metres of the bank. Climbing activities go to a maximum height of 8 metres. Robinwood activity sessions still provide a good level of challenge and adventure for children aged 8 to 11 years.
Our activities are designed to capture and develop the enthusiasm and imagination of junior age children, with many themed activities including for example our piranha pool session.
We pack more activities into our 3 day course than many other activity centres include in a 5 day course. Activities run from 8.30am to 9.00pm with at least 12 activity sessions over the 3 days. Breaks between activities are quite short so that, whilst we take care to ensure the programme is not too rushed, children are kept busy throughout.
Our courses have developed over many years based on feedback from thousands of teachers, resulting in what we believe is the ultimate 3 day residential. We continue to focus on the needs of key stage 2 groups, responding carefully to the feedback received from each school that attends. We make improvements each season based on the feedback received and are hungry for more feedback that will help us develop further.
The quality of our staff team is probably the single most important factor in the success of Robinwood Activity Centres. We are always being told by visiting groups, that Robinwood staff are the best.
We offer what we believe is the best employment and training package available (details are provided on our staff website). As a result we get in excess of 10 good quality applicants for every position available. On our selection days we rigorously assess the qualities of all candidates, through a range of group tasks and individual interviews. We carefully identify those with the qualities that will enable them to become outstanding activity group leaders at Robinwood and offer them places on our four week induction training programme. Training and development continues for all staff throughout their employment with Robinwood.
For these reasons and more, we genuinely believe that Robinwood staff are the best. It is an opinion shared by thousands of visitors to Robinwood each year, but the best way to test our claim is to visit the centre yourself.
Each group that visits Robinwood has a team of staff who look after the group throughout their stay. A senior member of the Robinwood team takes the role of course leader and is in overall charge of the group, throughout the 3 days. A group leader takes charge of each activity group, instructing all activity sessions and caring for the children throughout their stay.
The group leader and course leader system enables key Robinwood staff to really get to know children and adults attending, to help the children develop over their three days at Robinwood and benefit fully from the different experiences they will have.
One of the best organised residential visits we have been on. The kids had a ball and all want to come again! The staff might even offer to give up another weekend as you made it so easy for them!
