Robinwood at Dobroyd Castle
For some time we have had to turn many schools who wanted to book with us away, because (even having extended our season to run from early January to mid December) we were already booked up with schools who return to us year after year.
We are therefore delighted to announce that we opened our new Robinwood centre in March 2009, allowing us to offer many more schools the opportunity to experience a Robinwood course.
Dobroyd Castle is a 19th century mansion overlooking Todmorden. The castle has both architectural and historical significance in the area. It was built in the 1860s by local mill owner John Fielden It stands in 17 acres of grounds allowing most of our activities to take place within the grounds of the centre. We offer all of our most popular activities at Dobroyd Castle.
We have indoor facilities for Archery, Climbing, Caving, Piranha Pool, Trapeze and Team Challenge.
Activities within the grounds include Zip Wire, Giant Swing, Obstacle Course, Night Line and Problem Solving. A purpose built lake within the grounds is the perfect location for canoeing and raft building in shallow, sheltered water.
I was very impressed with the whole experience of Robinwood and would like to express my thanks and appreciation to all involved. This was the first time I had organised a residential visit but had no reasons to be apprehensive. It has been a powerful experience for all the children involved and well worth the battle of encouraging the reluctant ones to come along.
