Outdoor Activity

Available at: BHDCOS

Robinwood obstacle courses typically run through wooded areas of the grounds and incorporate many different challenges for the group. We have tunnels to crawl through, walls and scramble netting to climb on, rope bridges to cross and various other obstacles for the group to overcome. The course blends into the woodland environment, making use of the natural resources available. In order to make their way round, the group need to work together as a team to overcome the obstacles they face. At The Old School we have a fantastic natural obstacle course. On a boulder field close to the activity centre children can scramble over the top and explore the many passageways beneath, squeezing through tight gaps on the way. There are many different routes to take providing a range of challenges for those taking part.

Other Activities at Robinwood

We have 15 high quality activity sessions. Although most are offered at all Robinwood centres, there are some which only operate at selected centres. All centres run a very similar, busy programme with typically 15 activities packed in to the three days at Robinwood. There are slight variations in activities offered at each centre and the activity programme also varies according to the time of year.

What Schools say about our activities

We really appreciate all the recommendations we get from schools who have visited Robinwood and the number of schools who come for the first time as a result of recommendations from friends and colleagues. We are constantly updating the comments from schools who have recently attended a Robinwood Course. The schools that attend come from areas of the Midlands, throughout the North of England and up into Scotland. But don’t just take our word for it, See what they have to say about robinwood. "Brochure and initial information - Very useful for getting children excited and prepared and for sharing with parents. Children safe at all times and learnt lots about personal safety and self-management. Food - Really enjoyed by all children and all dietary requirements were met without question. Activities: Piranha Pool - A big favourite amongst the children - they loved it! Quest - This really brought out the best in team work skills! Raft Building - Very enjoyable and the children were incredibly engaged and never stopped smiling! Team Challenge - Great fun for everyone. Next year the teachers are determined to win! Trapeze - A terrifying prospect for many children (and adults) but one which every single pupil achieved and conquered in their own way. Zip Wire - Such fun, and really enjoyed having a competition against the other side of the tower! Caving - Another activity which challenged many children's fears but, as ever, the staff encouraged them brilliantly and everyone took part. Climbing - Children really enjoyed the bouldering games. Crate Challenge - Great for building team work and the children worked together really well. They thoroughly enjoyed this activity. Dungeon of Doom - Many of the children found this scary - they really believed the legend - but really enjoyed it by the end. Giant Swing - Fantastic fun - always a big favourite! Canoeing - All of the children took part in this so it was a great, inclusive activity. Because of the thunder and lightening, we did the activity at night and it was terrific fun! Archery - Another very inclusive activity - brill! Night Line - Children loved this and really communicated well."
