Outdoor Activity

Available at: BHDCOS

With blindfold in place the children put one hand on the rope and then follow it wherever it goes. It goes to all sorts of interesting places! Games and activities are generally played prior to the Nightline to maximise the group’s chance of success in working together and helping one another. Discussion of the senses and developing communication and team work throughout the group can provide many educational benefits on this session. The surprises to be discovered on route as children worm their way over, under and through various obstacles ensure the session is also a lot of fun.

Other Activities at Robinwood

We have 15 high quality activity sessions. Although most are offered at all Robinwood centres, there are some which only operate at selected centres. All centres run a very similar, busy programme with typically 15 activities packed in to the three days at Robinwood. There are slight variations in activities offered at each centre and the activity programme also varies according to the time of year.

What Schools say about our activities

We really appreciate all the recommendations we get from schools who have visited Robinwood and the number of schools who come for the first time as a result of recommendations from friends and colleagues. We are constantly updating the comments from schools who have recently attended a Robinwood Course. The schools that attend come from areas of the Midlands, throughout the North of England and up into Scotland. But don’t just take our word for it, See what they have to say about robinwood. "This was our first visit to Dobroyd Castle after two very successful visits to The Old School. We wondered if the personal touch of the Old School would be as apparent at the larger centre, but we needn't have worried. We were made to feel like we were the only group there - we would like to thank all the staff who we came across for making the visit such a pleasure. Our children had the most fantastic three days and haven't stopped talking about it. From an adult point of view, Robinwood make organising a residential visit so easy which means we can concentrate on enjoying ourselves almost as much as the children! Thank you to our group leaders in particular, but also to the whole team who make visiting Robinwood such a pleasure. Value for Money - The children are buzzing and the parents are happy. That says all we need to know about value for money. Food - The children really liked the choices they had, I asked for feedback, no negative comments whatsoever. Activities: Zip Wire - A big favourite with our children, challenging at first but loads of fun. I loved how many turns they got, unlike other providers where their experience is over in approximately 10 seconds. Superb. Trapeze - This presented a real challenge. When talking to my group beforehand, this was the one they were not looking forward to, but afterwards, the sense of achievement was huge and was frequently mentioned as one of the favourites. Children really discovered their inner steel with this one. Rocket Olympics - This was loads of fun, but got the children thinking and reasoning too. I loved the tone of the launching - everybody wanted their rocket to do well but nobody was too precious about some mishap befalling their creation. Just the right balance. Quest - Excellent - loved the problem solving and competitive aspects of this. The children really enjoyed trying to solve the puzzles. Canoeing - A personal favourite, I was delighted with how quickly my group took to canoeing, and the fun they had was infectious. Their technique really improved over the course of the session and the games kept it entertaining. Night Line - A superb course, better than any other I have seen. Giant Swing - Another big favourite with our children, this took courage but also gave them a big sense of achievement. Loved the teamwork aspect too. Crate Challenge - Teamwork, challenge and pushing comfort limits in a safe way. An excellent activity. Climbing - I thought the challenge level of the wall was just right, not too intimidating for those who weren't sure, but still a challenge for all to get to the top. Caving - The children loved the caves, many commented on how real it felt. Any who were unsure felt confident very quickly."
